Both Madelyn's abdominal ultrasound and her cardiac echo came back negative. Tomorrow morning she will have a bone scan which we also pray comes out negative. We are hoping after tomorrows test that we will be able to get the PFAPA diagnosis and hopefully find a treatment that works for her. Tonsillectomy seems to be our best hope in stopping the fevers but it is not a guarantee. At this point we are just trying to remain positive that it will work for her.
Please pray that this test comes back negative and we can find a way to stop these fevers and pain.... She has been such a trooper. Even her teachers today commented on how she bounces right back into class as if nothing was wrong with her!! We will keep you all posted as soon as we know more.

Just an update...
Sorry if this gets winded, I know some of you have called so I figured I would put an update on here as well. Madelyn's testing went well yesterday. We should have the results back today. She was such a big girl lying there while they took pictures of her heart. She even apologized to the nurse for drooling on the pillow.LOL. She didn't like the kidney ultrasound very much because her fever started going up. We will go for her bone scan on Tuesday. They will sedate her for this procedure because it takes 1-2 hours. I am really hoping they will let one of us stay with her. Unfortunately she came down with another fever on Wednesday so we haven't been getting much sleep around here again. She is only sleeping 1 or 2 hours at night during these episodes so we are pretty exhausted. We've learned this time that Shayne has the magic touch when it comes to getting her to take medicine. We are supposed to rotate tylenol and motrin every few hours but she hates any flavor of tylenol and won't touch it so we rely on Motrin. Shayne got her to take her tylenol too so we have better control over her fevers. Yay Daddy!!
I spoke with the doctor yesterday a.m. and he told me that the bone scan will be her last test to rule out any serious problems so we should be able to schedule a tonsillectomy soon. Alot of PFAPA children have a reduction in fevers after getting their tonsils out. So hopefully she won't be sick on her birthday and then we can have the surgery right away and she can enjoy Christmas!!
